We can join a film or series as a Thai co-producer, not only as the company that services the shoot. That can include local development, packaging, budgeting, production strategy, Thai partners, financing conversations, cast and crew, locations, permits and full production in Thailand. The exact role depends on what you already have and what the project still needs.
This is the first thing we should figure out. If your film is financed, your rights are structured and you simply want to shoot in Thailand, production service may be the cleaner deal. If you need a Thai producing partner, local financing or distribution relationships, regional packaging, development input or a structure that gives Thailand a meaningful place in the project, then we should talk co-production. We won’t turn a service job into a co-production just to get our name on the film.
Possibly — and you do not need to give away co-production rights just to access Thailand’s foreign production incentive. The current Thailand Film Office programme offers foreign productions a cash rebate of up to 30%, with qualifying local expenditure starting at THB 50 million. We can look at your budget early and tell you which spend belongs in Thailand, whether the threshold is realistic and whether a service or co-production structure makes more sense.
Thailand has introduced a separate support track for eligible Thai-produced films and digital content, with support announced at 15–30% of qualifying production costs for projects meeting the programme requirements. That does not mean adding a Thai company automatically unlocks another rebate. The project, producing entity and expenditure have to fit the relevant scheme. This is exactly the conversation to have before you lock the finance plan, not after.
That is the question you should ask every potential co-producer. For us, the role can include developing the Thailand side of the project, building the local budget and production plan, packaging Thai cast and key creatives, approaching relevant local partners, supporting financing and distribution conversations, and producing the film on the ground. We want the Thai piece to solve something real in the finance, production or market strategy.
Yes. Sometimes a project needs a full local adaptation; sometimes it only needs someone who understands what will and will not translate. We can work with producers and writers on Thai and Asian adaptations, local story elements, casting, locations and production choices without turning the original project into something unrecognisable.
Start with the script or treatment, project deck, current financing status, proposed budget, rights situation and what you are looking for from a co-producer. It does not need to be perfectly packaged. A clear note about what is already secured — and what is still missing — is much more useful than fifty pages of polished promises.
No. A project may come to Thailand because of the story, the production economics, the locations, the financing structure or a combination of all four. But if Thailand is being added purely to chase money and creates no production or market advantage, we should know that early too. The best international co-productions have a reason for each partner to be there.
Ideally before the budget and finance plan are locked. Script, treatment or package stage is fine. That gives us room to look at what should shoot in Thailand, what it would cost here, whether the incentive could apply, what local elements are useful and whether you need a Thai co-producer at all. Coming in early can change the structure; coming in three weeks before principal photography mostly changes the logistics.
Send the script or treatment, deck, top-sheet budget, finance plan, chain-of-title status, attached cast or director, current partners, distribution or sales status, intended shoot countries and the amount still to finance. Then tell us plainly what you need from Thailand. “We need $500K and Southeast Asian distribution” is far more useful than “we are looking for strategic partners.”
